Photoscoping

So, I'm still trying to hammer out my story, but I think the final film will look something like this. I just used photoshop to steal colors from a photograph. I'd do this for the final film too- go shoot reference photography and use it to create my color swatches. To save time I'm going to use alot of video reference for the animation as well. Maybe its cheating... but I don't mind. I'll use whatever tools necessary to make the film look finished and better communicate the story (which is really where my career goals lie anyway). So I'll cheat to make it look good. Actually, thinking about it now, this style kind of supports the story. The story is taken from my life. So why not take the colors from life too? Hahaha, who knows. No one even reads this anyway.

I took a break from boarding today to just doodle something. I'm playing with different styles and ways of representing things, trying to get comfortable with drawing. This ones kind of Jeff Liu inspired.

Maybe not one a day...

So that fell apart, but here's some new drawings anyway. These are inspired by Andrew Hem. I like the way he keeps realistic features with well designed shapes. The way he proportions his faces is really nice. At this point the drawings are still more about the drawings. For the next batch, maybe I'll actually try to draw characters doing something.

I need to update this thing more often. I also need to draw more. I'm going to try to do a drawing a day for the next month. Wish me luck and watch me grow!

I'm losing my edge!

I found this online today. Its something I did years ago, but I like it alot better then the things I'm doing now. This was made during a time when I thought more about what I could do than what I couldn't.
